Lenny Henry in 'I'm not quitting' shock

See , the thing is , when you do a press day , sometimes ,you're tired in the morning and you say things at the beginning of the day that you have to spend the rest of the day trying to correct. I've been shown three newspaper clippings by my wife (DawnFrenchoffthetelly, who collects these things) that said 'Too Old to be Funny'. This is then followed by a heavily re interpreted series of things I said on 'BBC Breakfast'.This is the truth.
I have done a sketch show almost every year since I started in 1975.
I have also had a go several times at situation comedy and drama.
just as in 1986 I decided to lay the sketches off for a bit to concentrate
on situation comedy and drama , next year , I will repeat that process.
I am NOT giving up comedy.
I love doing stand up comedy and characters.
However , I do think that it is a young person's game , ( it just is , and I've had several goes at it).
I will never give up creating characters that make me laugh /cry/ wet myself/ and so on.
But I do reserve the right to evolve as a human being .
Right now , for me , evolution means changing the groove ,and developing something else to make the people laugh/cry/wet themselves and so on.
Too Old...psyche.
