Andrew Gerrand is Maggie's son but he tour managed and did the lights and stuff in the corner he did a good job too- specially on things like the projector when it goes tits up. Charlotte George sold the merchandise on the main body of the tour and took a lot of teasing. She's doing a screen writing course too and I reckon she'll do just fine.
Sally Woodfield worked very hard in New Zealand and also had to cope with having Maya her daughter around on some of the trip-(Maya was charming by the way she should be your assistant).
Emma Collison worked her nuts off in Sydney. Emma is a fantastic person who has performed P.R. duties on every tour I've ever done out here she's solid gold, knows her job and doesn't let you down. Despite recent personal hardship, Emma hasn't let her professional aspect drop and for that I respect her. Thank you Em.
Davy Luton my road manager has been a constant companion on this trip making sure everything's running smoothly backstage keeping an eye on my passport and generally looking after me. Thanks chap.
All the telly and radio people were cool too-they took my Handy Dandy interview primer and made fun, stole from or generally ignored the whole thing. Thank you particularly Rove Mcmanuswho just seems to get better with age. The Guy from Sunrise TV was pretty inventive - Channel Ten posse, also the people on TV 1 in New Zealand and the also a special mention to all DJ's who stand up to do their job I think there's something in that you know Your brain works differently when you're stood up. I know Moyles stands up and I also met some jocks in Chicago who were hilarious and happening and upright. I thought the guys on Triple M in Sydney were a pretty funny bunch too. and I hold a special place in my heart for Linda and Dools at Triple J who sat, but were very chilled, relaxed and strangely humorous?it was like hanging out in their dorm or something. Cheers all.
I'm sitting in the airport at New Plymouth now and thankfully, Len Lye's Wind Wand has stopped wobbling catastrophically which means that we might be able to fly this morning. There was a slight possibility of a five hour drive to Auckland today-wasn't looking forward to that.
It was a pretty good show last night although I did slightly feel for the guy who brought his 6 year old daughter the show's a pg 15 ( you can sneak 12 year old's in if you want) but 6 is crazy. I'm not doing Puppetry of the Penis (now that was a SHOW) or anything, but there are some naughty adult type jokes in the show not sure if I'd bring my six year old Anyway she was secretly pretending to have a nap in the second half (I think she might have been told: pretend to be asleep Shrale, you're putting the comedian off).
Ah well Auckland now then Wellington and home..
Peace
