Hi chaps -
I'm trying to get into shape for Australia which involves me running a lot, hurting my groin, and my lower back and having to do lots of yoga and stretching to compensate.
The M.A. work is going well - it's weird, because it's mostly creative stuff we're all really enjoying ourselves. Yaay for us, I say - I can't wait for the second week in September - should be good.
Things to watch out for and we'll post them when the proper dates come through, but: The Radio 4 series 'What's so Great About' is starting in June sometime, the subjects will be Bob Dylan (probably the first one), Lee Strasberg's Actor's Studio and the Method, and finally Life Coaching... we're still doing the last one, but the first interview with a very serious life coaching woman, was good fun - so we'll see how the rest goes.
The second thing is BAD FAITH which is a radio play by Peter Jukes (again-HI Pete) it's about a Police Chaplain, called Jake Thorne- burnt out by one too many motorway pile ups, Suicide attempts, Knife attacks and so on in his parish, Jake is having a crisis- he's a preacher on the verge of a nervous breakdown, questioning the point of his very existence. The new wet behind the ears chaplain in training doesn't help either, Jake has to take him through a rigorous 'Training Day' style indoctrination that rocks, rolls and almost kills the pair of them.
I enjoyed making this and was fortunate to work with Peter Jukes, Steve Canny the director and Simon Elmes (also the exec on the W.S.G.A series) too... look out for those.
There's talk of more Rudy's Rare Records for R4 and also (ta -daaaaa) a TV Pilot! All up in the air at the moment, but very exciting none the less.
I start the mini tour of the UK tonight in Worcester at the Swan, a lovely place and it continues:

Call for TV Scripts from the BBC ? Sharps Initiative
Think you can write for TV?
This is an open call by BBC writersroom to find the next generation of writing talent. They want writers with the talent, ideas, insights, and imagination to captivate an audience. They are looking for a fresh, surprising, entertaining take on a universal theme.
To apply, send an original 30-minute TV script exploring 'the nation's health'. It doesn?t need to be a hospital precinct drama ? you can explore 'health' in its broadest possible senses.
Twenty writers will be selected for a workshop, which will involve writing exercises as part of the selection process. Eight final writers will be selected for a week-long residential, with an intensive focus on developing their work, craft, and writer?s 'toolbox', with input from BBC Drama Production and professional writers. Each of the eight writers will also receive a ?500 bursary, mentoring from in-house development teams at the BBC, and a showcase rehearsed reading with professional actors.
To apply, you must also complete the online submission form - which will be available within the next week - and attach it to your script.
Make sure you check the BBC?s submission guidelines online: http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/opportunity/sharps.shtml
Deadline: Noon, 16 June 2008
If you have any questions that aren't covered by the BBC?s FAQ, please email them to writersroom@bbc.co.uk>>>>>
There you go - don't say I never do nothing for ya.
See you out on tour - come and holla at me!
peace
