Ive got two weeks left of Lennys Britain 9pm on Tuesday nights. If youre enjoying it , tell everyone you know and fill them in on the cavalcade of japes ,wheezes and tomfoolery that it contains. Tonights is a corker , even if I do say so myself its mainly to do with the very intelligent shooting, and editing of the programme by Sacha Mirzoeff and crew. At the time of making this show , it all seemed a bit sad ;filming about the leisure in Blackpool, discussing a town on its last legs I had my elegiac face set from the off. But the whole thing surprised me in the way that I reacted to Blackpool and its people; ok ,so they didnt get the big supercasino Manchester did. I have to say, whoever awarded that contract is extremely short sighted.
Blackpool is incredibly well placed in the publics affections as a seaside home away from home. Not the Vegas of the North as some have dubbed it ,but a very British holidaying experience that, given the funding , could rival anywhere in the world as a place for good ,joyous , rambunctious sea side fun. Look out for Pat Mancini the landlady tonight on the show and also Frank Carson interrupting the interview as only he can. I was particularly taken by Ruth the chamber maid who had no time at all , for Men and their incontinent ways. She made me so ashamed of my usual staying in hotels behaviour
that when I got back to the digs that night , I tidied the room , collected all the change from down the sofa , behind the loo, on top of the telly and made into a big pile with for the chambermaids written on an envelope next to it. This is also the show where I went on my first (and last ) ever Hen night forget Vietnam ,man you werent there , you dont know!
Enjoy the show tonight and dont forget to watch next week. Im at Tiger at this moment , writing stand up comedy jokes, and also learning my lines for LennyHenry.TV . If you remember we did a clips show based on internet footage for the Beeb. We piloted on Boxing night last year and the show was deemed good enough to actually broadcast. I think weve worked quite hard to move the show on from what you saw last year this show rocks along at a good pace , the clips are funny and theres good jokes throughout . I think thats coming to you later on in the year.
Im not enjoying this sodding rain at the moment , its making everything incredibly poo-ey, (which is an official term). What happened to the bloody summer?
Anyway I shall continue writing stand up comedy for the Where You From Remix The new shows gonna be wicked , with loads of new material plus some old faces making a welcome return. Be there.
